Work for the common good and humanitarian work
Agreement on the existence of a common interest in carrying out work for the common good while released between the Ministry of Justice and the institution of the City of Zagreb ‘Dobri dom’.It is possible to execute the criminal sanction of work for the common good while released under criminal and misdemeanour law. Since the Probation Office was established in May 2011, the cooperation has continued.
The purpose of implementing this measure is not to exclude convicts from society, but to develop, through the assistance and supervision of the community, voluntarily, through personal actions, work and attitude towards the consequences caused by the committed criminal and misdemeanour, awareness of the harmfulness of certain behaviours and responsibility for harmful consequences.
An individual agreement between the Centre for Social Welfare Zagreb and our Institution provides for each juvenile offender the conditions for performing humanitarian work.
Since the activity of an employer is of a humanitarian nature, to perform work for the common good as well as humanitarian work and the benefit to the community are achieved and correspond to the general purpose of executing criminal sanctions and the specific purpose of performing work for the common good as well as the humanitarian work of juvenile offenders.
At the "Dobri dom" Institution of the City of Zagreb, preforming the work for the common good and humanitarian work is carried out on auxiliary tasks within the dining-rooms: Branimirova, Alfirevićeva and Cerska and on the exterior decoration of the "Thermal Block-Dining Room Kosnica".
