YELLOW RIBBON RUN! DOBRI DOM has been actively involved in the implementation of community service work since 2006.
As an entity authorized to host community service work, DOBRI DOM has held a cooperation agreement with the competent Ministry since May 15, 2006, and has received over 1,000 individuals referred to the institution.
To further highlight the importance of effectively combating stereotypes and prejudices present at all levels of society—and to raise awareness regarding the rehabilitation of prisoners, former inmates, and individuals under probation—the third edition of the Yellow Ribbon Run, titled "Escape Prejudice!", was held on Thursday, September 17, at the Bundek Sports and Recreation Center (SRC Bundek).
The first two races were successfully organized in September 2024 in Gospić and in March 2025 in Zagreb. The Yellow Ribbon Run is an initiative that began 20 years ago in Singapore; it aims to support individuals with a criminal past by offering them a fresh opportunity for successful social integration through law-abiding behaviour, while collectively striving to build a more inclusive society by shifting the mindsets of some citizens. This year’s race saw the joint and equal participation of individuals deprived of liberty, offenders under probation supervision, partner institutions (DOBRI DOM), prison officers and other penal system staff, probation office personnel, judges and court officials, the Minister and officials from the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, prominent athletes, members of the academic community, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders and community members. Family members of those deprived of liberty also supported the race, while a special workshop was organized for their children. DOBRI DOM also actively participated in the race, represented by social worker Petra Škrnjug and principal Alen Župan.
