On November 10, nursing students from the University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb visited a homeless shelter in Zagreb. During their visit, they organized a preventive health campaign that included measuring blood pressure and blood sugar levels, as well as discussing with the residents the importance of taking care of their own health. Along with friendly conversation and socializing, the students also shared numerous tips on healthy lifestyle habits, recognizing risk symptoms, and the importance of regular medical check-ups.

The shelter’s residents gladly participated in the activity, sharing their personal experiences and the challenges they face daily. The visit took place in a very pleasant atmosphere filled with mutual understanding, support, and the exchange of experiences.

This activity was part of the elective course Nursing Care for the Family, which aims, among other things, to familiarize students with various aspects of social exclusion and to emphasize the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in working with individuals, families, and communities. Such initiatives contribute to the development of social sensitivity among future nurses and medical technicians and strengthen their awareness of the importance of making healthcare accessible to all members of society.
