Labor Day celebration in Maksimir!
International Labour Day will once again be celebrated in Maksimir Park on May 1st with a rich musical and entertainment program, as well as the traditional distribution of May Day beans and "štrukli" with cheese.
The program is organized by the City of Zagreb in cooperation with the city institutions Priroda Grada Zagreba, DOBRI DOM and the Maksimir Cultural Center, and will take place on two stages throughout the day.
The musical part will begin at the very entrance to the park, where the Zagreb ZET Orchestra will start playing and march in a procession through the alley to the large stage, introducing visitors to the central part of the program. The first to perform on the large stage will be the Oridano Gypsy Jazz Trio, followed by the performance of Šlagerista and the Zagreb ZET Orchestra, and then a concert by the group Pavel.
The central part of the program will be marked by the performance of Vesna Pisarović, one of the most prominent pop stars of the domestic music scene, who will perform her greatest hits. The program on the large stage will continue with a concert by the group Silente.
In parallel, creative workshops and dance performances for children organized by Zagreb cultural centers will be held on a small stage near the entrance to Maksimir Park throughout the day. At the small stage, visitors will also be able to participate in a free general knowledge quiz.
In addition to the rich program, visitors can also expect 35,500 servings of beans with rice, sausages, bacon and pork neck, 2,000 servings of beans with rice and beef, 2,500 servings of beans with rice without meat, and 30,000 pieces of "štrukli" with cheese.
Due to the consequences of the stormy weather on March 26 and 27, 2026, staying in the northern part of Maksimir Park currently poses an increased safety risk due to a large number of fallen, broken and tilted trees, as well as damaged and broken branches. For your own safety, we ask visitors to stay in the southern part of the park (around the Grand Stage) and in open meadow areas.
