On the eve of the City of Zagreb Day, May 31st, on Friday, at a ceremony in the Old City Hall, Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević presented the City of Zagreb Awards to prominent individuals, associations, institutions and associations for their exceptional contributions and achievements.
In addition to Mayor Tomašević, the awardees and guests were also addressed by the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović and the Prime Minister's envoy, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Marko Primorac, and the envoy of the President of the Croatian Parliament, Krunoslav Katičić, were also present.
All the winners were thanked for their work, which contributes to the "beloved city" and makes it a better place to live. The ceremony was also attended by the prinipal of the Institution City of Zagreb DOBRI DOM, Alen Župan, at the invitation of the mayor.
The City of Zagreb Award was received by writer Damir Karakaš, academic director Krešimir Dolenčić, director Nebojša Slijepčević, actress, film and theatre director, screenwriter and producer Lana Barić, Psihomodo pop, Darko Rundek.
The winners are also members of the Psychological Crisis Intervention Team due to the violent incident that occurred on December 20 last year at the Prečko Elementary School, which resulted in the tragic loss of a minor's life, the injury of a teacher and three students.
The City of Zagreb Award was also received by Prof. Dr. Sc. Nikica Gilić, Zvonimir Gračan, sculptor, and Monika Herceg, writer and editor, Dr. Sc. Marina Šekutor, senior research associate at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Antun Trojnar, president of the Zagreb Chamber of Crafts and owner of the construction trade GR – Trojnar Antun, The Zagreb Soloists Art Organization, and Mimi Vurdelja, head of the health care and nutrition program for top athletes of the Croatian Olympic Committee.
Expressing his gratitude on behalf of the awardees, Prof. Dr. Nikica Gilić emphasized that this is a thank you on behalf of all the winners in culture, art and science to all those who educated, cared for, drove, treated and fed them, and that they therefore feel as if they are receiving the award on behalf of all of Zagreb.
