Within the City of Zagreb institution Dobri dom, eating at four public-dining rooms is ensured, at the following locations: Branimirova 35, Cerska 3, Alfirevićeva 6 and The heat-treatment block Kosnica for the shelter users.

Based on the City office for social protection and for disabled people, number of public dining-rooms users is 3800 while in afore mentioned dining-rooms 3,600 – 3,800 users eat every day. Throughout the year, 1,300,000.00 meals are prepared. During September 2004, a dining-room within the shelter Heinzelova 78 was equipped where the meals for 90 shelter users are delivered. By opening the new dining-room (May 2009) in Alfirevićeva 6, Branimirova dining-room for 110 users is not crowded anymore and by this time and lines for the handing out the meals are reduced.

During August 2010 a new dining-room will start to work which will be available to the shelter users (homeless people) of the shelter of the ‘Red cross of the City of Zagreb’ which is located in the former refugee camp Kosnica.

The dining-room will be part of the business unit ‘Heat-treatment block Kosnica’ and is completely prepared to take in users every day.

To maintain but also to increase the service standard, the protection of the users’ life quality and better meal distribution and their availability are some of the reasons why it is necessary that the City of Zagreb institution Dobri dom finds a possibility to open another dining-room in the west part of the city during 2011/2012. The meals in the dining-rooms are organized by everyday preparation and distribution of meals.

The right to eat in the Public dining-rooms have:
-    The users of the permanent and temporary help according to the Social service law
-    Single parents of several or one underage children if he is the user of the permanent and temporary help according to the Social service law
-    The right to eat in the public dining-rooms can by an exception be given temporarily to the people who are not the Croatian citizens but who have the need to do so

The right can be gained through:
Social Service Center of Zagreb – district office according to residence which issues a document for public dining – room feeding and issuing the social ID card from the Department of social care of the City office for social protection and disabled people – Nova cesta 1.
Afore mentioned rights are gained by the Decision about the social service of the City of Zagreb (Sl. Glasnik Grada Zagreba 7/08) and the Decision about changes of the Decision about the social service of the City of Zagreb (Sl. Glasnik Grada Zagreba 2009) .
